Employment Scam

fbi-logoThis is actually an oldie but a goodie…

If you are offered a job, almost always ‘work at home,’ where your new employer sends you a check but then requires you to use most of the money to buy supplies or equipment… STOP!

The scam is that the check you have been sent is no good and will bounce. But if you’ve already sent on the money for the supplies or equipment… your money is now gone.

From the flyer: “Never accept a job that requires depositing checks into your account or wiring portions to other individuals or accounts.”

If you are contacted, you can file a complaint with the FBI’s Internet Crime Complaint Center at http://www.IC3.gov and notify Campus Safety.
