Welcome back for the Spring 2018 semester. Campus Safety would like to take this opportunity to remind students of the procedure to follow in the event classes are cancelled/delayed or the College needs to be closed or to delay opening. If circumstances permit, decisions about cancelling classes/closing the College are made by 6:00am for daytime classes and by 4:00pm for evening classes. Information about the closing are reported to the College’s designated radio and TV stations listed at: https://www.genesee.edu/home/u/closing/emergency-closing-info/
Students should utilize the following sources to obtain information about the status of College operations during inclement weather or possible emergency situations:
- Check one of the designated radio or television stations
- The Genesee Website – http://www.genesee.edu/gcc/closing/
- The Genesee Switchboard Message – (585) 343-0055
- Check your GC3 account
Because of differing weather circumstances at each of the Campus Centers, each Associate Dean may make separate determinations about officially closing each Campus Center.
If the College delays the start of classes:
Classes for the day will not begin until after the designated time as determined by the College and made public utilizing one of the above media sources.
If College is closed:
The College will be fully closed only in the event of natural disasters, travel bans, severe weather conditions, prolonged loss of power, and serious and widespread threats to the well-being of the students. In the event that the College, or any of its campus locations is officially closed, classes are then considered officially cancelled for the day and students should not attend class for that day.
If you have any questions concerning the above information, please feel free to stop by the Campus Safety Office or call us at 585-345-6500.
